Baby Henry

We are so happy to have Henry join our family. He was born on 03/01/2010 at 6:17 pm. He weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces and was 21 inches long. Emily wasn't planning on coming to Ogden today but at the last minute she had a feeling she should. Her water broke at 3 pm in the Bingham's kitchen. I closed the pharmacy and came to pick her up. We arrived at the hospital at 4 pm. They were deciding whether or not to admit her and Emily showed them her soaking pants, so they let us in. Contractions were getting pretty intense at around 5:15 and the nurse said Emily was a 5. I said, "so it seems like the baby might come in a couple of hours, is that about right?" She answered, "no, it usually takes 4 or 5 hours to get from a 5 to a 10. Emily thought she should get an epidural at this point because 4 or 5 hours was such a long time away. We were informed that the anesthesiologist was in on a C-section and would be awhile. The nurse checked her again at 6 pm and was shocked to see that she was at a 9.5. She called the doctor in and he said she was a 10 and needed to push. Henry's heart rate was dropping a little, so the doctor said he would need to come out right now. Emily was more determined than ever and gave two big pushes and Henry was here. We were both overwhelmed with happiness at that moment seeing Henry for the first time.
