John Rowe Moyle

My mom was born on my great great great grandfather, John Rowe Moyle's, birthday. February 22nd. He lived an inspiring and dedicated life. He joined the church while living in England and later brought his family across the seas and then by handcart across the states to settle in Alpine Utah. He was called to work as a stonemason on the Salt Lake Temple. He would walk each week to and from the temple grounds (from Alpine to Salt Lake) to perform his labors. He did this for decades. Many of which we walked with a wooden peg leg he carved by himself after an accident involving their milk cow. He carved the words on the temple "Holiness to the Lord, The House of the Lord..." Which still gleams on the top of the temple to this day. There is a statue on the temple grounds patterned after him pulling a handcart. Being descendants of John Rowe Moyle we were able to participate in a film about his life. I love this photo of my sister and niece on that day dressed in pioneer clothing. It was a taste of what our ancestors sacrificed for us to have the Gospel in our lives today. Thank you to our Heavenly Father for Family for Eternal Life, for Temples and for this Life in which we can learn and grow!

  1. it was such an awesome thing to be part of.

I never realized mom and JRM have the same birthday. I guess baby boy wanted to have his own day to come into the world. Call me if anything happens.
    love ya.
