4th of july...

the kids had fun at the Rexburg parade. They loved being with their cousins!

Louise loved walking on the sidewalk on this yellow square(not sure what it is really called!)

There was the nicest cop that was patrolling the area, mostly keeping the kids out of the parade traffic. He gave the kids police sticker badges and he would run out into the street to get candy for the kids that they couldn't reach. Super nice cop!

 cute cousin Elle!

Just relaxing on the side of the road

i love that Ris and Vaughn are taking a selfie in the background!

It was a fun and very hot parade. See you next year Main Street!

A few weeks ago I took the three little ones on the carousel.  It was so fun at first. Henry was grinning from ear to ear and squealing excitedly as he went up and down on his horse. Lizzy wanted to ride a little horse and seemed so glad she could do it on her own this year. Louise wasn't so sure about the up and down horses so i sat with her on a cute bench right behind Lizzy.  Just as i was thinking what a pleasant afternoon it was i saw Lizzy slide off of her horse out of the corner of my eye. I tried to grab her but i didn't make it in time and then she rolled off of the floor of the carousel onto the cement and underneath the ride.  With Louise sitting reaching for me on the bench and the big diaper bag on my back i couldn't make it over the bars to get to get Lizzy. I started yelling for someone to stop the ride, but no one was around (the only employee was back at the cotton candy machine!) So thankfully a young boy about 11 or 12 years old jumped off the ride, picked her up and got her back on safe and sound! Other than smalls bruises and being a little scared she was thankfully just fine!!!! What a blessing. That little boy was a hero in my book! I am getting emotional as i type this. Needless to say i haven't taken the kids on the merry-go-round since this episode but every time we passed the park Lizzy would say..."can we please ride the carousel, i won't fall off this time!" So on the 4th of July Lanning took Henry and Lizzy on the carousel while Louise and i watched from the sidelines. I never thought i'd be scared of the carousel but boy it makes my heart beat a little faster every time we watch it now!

  1. Emily this is so scary! What a horrible thing you had to go through! And what a miracle that she was ok. I'm amazed that she wanted to get back on.
I had something similar happen recently- good day turned scary day- that I'll have to tell you about sometime because you can relate!
